Some people’s experience of divorce is freeing, but for many it can bring devastation. It takes a lot of strength to pick up the pieces and the thought of starting over can feel daunting. Here are some tips taken from 3 Tips to Help You Recover from Divorce by Dalila Jusic-LaBerge that can help you begin the healing process.
Family and Friends
It’s important you not close off from friends and family. They have your best interest in mind and love you so much! Don’t be afraid to ask for help or for a listening ear.
More support can come in the form of a divorce support group. It can be helpful to meet other people who are currently going through the same experience.
It is not unlikely for you to experience depression, anxiety, stress, grief, anger or any combination of these emotions. It can be hard to find your footing and get a sense of normalcy. A therapist can help you navigate through this period of change and help you to find your way. If you feel less comfortable getting personal with family, friends or a support group, a therapist is an excellent option.
